This tutorial will walk you through the steps required to install a fresh copy of Joomla 1.5.x with our Quick Installer.

Before you get started

If you haven't already, we highly recommend you take a couple of minutes to go over Morph's system requirements and the Quick Installer overview, as it will give you a better idea of what is included and what you can expect once its installed.

Download the latest version of the Quick Installer

First thing you will need to do is download the latest version of the Quick Installer from the downloads.

This video is aimed at being a visual reference to help you easily install Joomla 1.5 using our Quick Installer. The video uses the LeBlanc themelet as an example, but the same steps apply to all of our current themelets.

Step by step guide to installing Joomla 1.5

Below is a step-by-step on installing Joomla 1.5 with the generic Quick Installer. For a more detailed reference, we recommend to take a look at the official Joomla 1.5 Installation Manual.

Pre-installation steps

Before you can start with Joomla's installer, you will need to extract the contents of the Quick Installer zip and ftp the contents of the folder to your server. Once this is done, simply access the location where you extract the files and you should see the installer, as shown below.

Step 1: Select your language

Select the your language from the list.

Step 2: Pre-installation check

This step will check your site to make sure that all the installation requirements, such as folder permissions, are correct.

Step 3: Joomla license information

If you're bored and have a bit too much time on your hands, you can take a couple of minutes to read over Joomla's license information.

Step 4: Database configuration

This is where you enter your database connection information. Contact your host if you don't know what this is.

Step 5: Ftp information

Optionally enter your sites ftp information here. For most sites this step is not necessary and can be skipped.

Step 6: Main configuration

This is where you enter your sites general information, such as site name and contact email address.

It's important that you select the Sample Data option below, as the Quick Installer relies on this.

Step 7: Remove the installation folder

Next up you'll be presented with a message asking you to remove the installation folder.

Step 8: Log in to your new Joomla site

Now that you have completed the installation, you will be able to login to your new Joomla site.

Step 9: Joomla dashboard

Once logged, you will be redirected to Joomla's dashboard.
