Does tihis version work with Joomla! 1.6? or even 1.7?!
Hi Francis,
Joomla 1.6 reached its end of life in August, so it’s no longer an option to develop on. Joomla 1.7 will reach end of life in February. Both releases are what’s called “short-term releases” and not always recommended to develop a site on, unless you really need any of the new features (mainly ACL).
Joomla 1.5 is currently the latest long-term, most supported and most stable release. The next long-term release has now been defined as Joomla 2.5, and it’s planned to be released in February next year.
For more information about Joomla’s release cycle, see for example: http://magazine.joomla.org/issues/Issue-Aug-2011/item/538-Infographic-Joomla-CMS-Development-Strategy
Regarding the Morph framework, as we’re going for Nooku (nooku.org), Morph will be compatible with the latest releases of Joomla (and more…). The development has been going on for months, and releasing Morph under GPL was our first step on the roadmap towards release. At the moment there’s no timeframe on the Nooku release, as the final bits will need some TLC from Nooku specific developers. Keep your eyes open on this blog for updates.
Cheers,
Tess
Hi, any news about Morph for Joomla v1.7 !
Thanks in advance for the support !
Hi Manuel,
We’re making good process with the 1.7 version of Morph and are hoping to start the beta testing in next 2 weeks. I don’t see us having the stable version released within December, but barring any major issues are discovered, we should be able to launch it in Jan.
I know Chris is planning on posting an update here on the blog later this week, which will cover our specific plans for Morph on 1.7 and soon 2.5, so stay tuned!
Cheers,
Tess
